CAC Leadership Club
At the Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County, we believe that advocacy plays a fundamental role in promoting healthy development for children within our community. We believe that through our efforts we will reduce trauma to child victims of abuse. It is through our intervention, treatment, and prevention services that we believe we can make an impact within our community. The Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County's Leaderhsip Club will serves as an extension of these services and efforts.
CAC Lapeer's Leadership Club is a peer leadership program geared toward enhancing civic engagement and leadership development through diverse educational opportunities for students throughout the Lapeer County area. Students will have the opportunity to engage with classmates, educate the community, and gain leadership skills using critical thinking to enhance community knowledge surrounding various social issues. By partnering with the Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County, students will have the opportunity to learn different ways to advocate for themselves and their peers as they will be provided with knowledge and resources surrounding a variety of social issues.
Through CAC Lapeer's Leadership Program, students will have the opportunity to enhace their leadership skills, engage in community development, and develop into active citizens through direct community involvement.
To provide leadership opportunities to high school students while promoting education, awareness, and knowledge to Lapeer County surrounding a variety of social issues.
CAC Lapeer Leadership club ACTIVITIES:
Throughout the year, students will be provided with many different opportunities to give back to the Community while also learning about social issues! Students will be able to participate in the following:
Learn about bullying awareness
Create bullying awareness display for window in Dowtown Lapeer
Create therapeutic stress balls for CAC clients
Create therapeutic sensory bottles for CAC clients
Create therapeutic "worry stones" for CAC clients
Spread holiday cheer by creating"Encouraging Candy Canes" with MDT
Participate in community events such as Dowtown Lapeer's Chrisitmas Parade, Lapeer Days, etc. CAC Lapeer fundraisers and many more opportunities!
CAC Lapeer's Leadership Club welcomes any high school and/or middle school student interested in gaining an understanding of community development, expanding their knowledge on social issues, and ways to advocate, for them to join!
