Internships

The Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County offers internship opportunities in many program areas. Undergraduate students who are pursuing careers in social work, psychology or related fields are provided supervision and training in their respective fields by staff at LapeerCAC. Please note that all internships are unpaid.

Criminal Justice Intern (Bachelor's Level)

Criminal Justice interns will have the opportunity to advocate for children and families that come to our center for forensic interviews, as well as network with law enforcement, prosecuting attorneys, and child protective services. Psychology Intern (Bachelor's Level)

Psychology interns work with the center's Clinical Coordinator to further develop their skills as a counselor.  This includes observing and participating in therapy groups, conducting crisis counseling, observing parent and child therapy sessions, and spending time with the multi-disciplinary team members.  Interns will learn about clinical documentation, treatment planning, and diagnosing clients. Prevention Intern (Associate's or Bachelor's Level) 

The Prevention intern works with the center’s Prevention Coordinator to go into the elementary schools teaching students about safe people, safe places and how to protect themselves from dangerous situations in a child-friendly way.  This includes preparing presentations and speaking to the students, creating activities for Child Abuse Awareness month, and connecting with the community to provide education on safety and abuse.  Now seeking applicants for winter 2018. To apply for this internship, send your cover letter and resume to amanda@caclapeer.org with "Prevention Internship" as the subject. 

Website Design Intern

The Website Design intern will work collectively with Lapeer CAC's staff to increase our community engagement via our website; as well as further develop our website content and design.  We recently updated our website and are looking for an individual to fine-tune and maintain our online presence.
