The Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County (CAC Lapeer) would like to thank Leigh Hauxwell for all that she has contributed to the Center over the years. With her endless support we have continuously been able to provide Lapeer County with education, knowledge, and resources relating to the issue of child abuse and neglect. Since CAC Lapeer first opened its doors in 2008, Leigh has attended numerous victim interviews. In 2010, she became a board member and currently serves as the DIrector of Victim Services/Office Manager at the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

For Leigh, CAC Lapeer gives children and young adults a safe place to talk about the horrific abuse they have experienced. Leigh states, “I’m honored to be a part of such a terrific organization. It’s a privilege to work together as a team with the Executive Director, the CAC Staff, Law Enforcement and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). Working as a team, the children do not have to speak about the abuse they have endured over and over again.”

Leigh’s passion to help our “littlest victims” find justice and help with their healing process shows through her advocacy efforts. In addition to her support for the CAC, Leigh helps prepare victims for court by providing comfort and support to children and families. One of the ways she provides support and comfort to victims is through Lapeer County Prosecuting Attorney’s Canine Advocate Dog, Grant.

Meet Grant!

Grant provides a great sense of comfort to children who are seen at the Center due to sexual and/or physical abuse. He is a highly trained dog that provides services to child victims to help alleviate the anxiety associated with being in court. When he’s not working, Grant enjoys spending time with his big sister Kloi. He loves chasing tennis balls and playing in the pond. We are very grateful for our best buddy and for Leigh’s advocacy efforts and support!

In addition to her support, we thank Leigh for her commitment to our mission: reducing trauma to child victims of sexual and physical abuse. By providing the Lapeer community with a safe and friendly space for children to come and tell their stories. The resources Leigh has contributed to CAC Lapeer over the years has allowed us to extend the services we provide to our families. We also recognize her support at our various community events including, Corkscrews & Brews and much more.

The Child Advocacy Center recognizes ALL that Leigh has provided CAC Lapeer and Lapeer County’s families! We would like to thank her specifically for being a driving force in lighting the way for a child’s future. We couldn’t do what we do without incredible Community Members like Leigh Hauxwell!
